Galarraga, Griffey and Garnett

It was a pretty big day in Baseball yesterday. An umpire admitted he was wrong and cost Galarraga a perfect game and one of the greatest players of my time retired.

Ken Griffey Jr. retired from the game of baseball. I didn't think that would happen, ever, I thought at some point he'd just sort of fade out and get traded around for a while with an occasional story that would read something like "Griffey qualified for Social Security and hit his 723rd home run on the same day."

The Red Sox have been doing pretty well this week which is nice. It seems like when I'm too busy to watch the games they win and when I plan to watch them they disappoint. I guess I'll have to stick to Basketball for the next week or two and let the Sox get ahead. Ortiz hit a nice two run shot last night in their 6-4 win over the A's.

Tonight is the night that the Celtics take on the Lakers in game 1 of the NBA Finals! Hopefully they can steal a game or two in LA. Kobe Bryant is going to be the challenge tonight but hopefully they can contain him. I'd say stop him but honestly there is no stopping anyone that plays at that level.

Celtics! Lakers.

I feel like we've done this before. If you aren't prepared for it here is how it's going to go. It will no doubt be too close right til the end of the series. You will find yourself fighting with people you've known for years because somehow the fact that they wear purple and gold has somehow gone unnoticed. You will most definitely call Kobe some horrible name in the middle of some other conversation. I was watching one of these games a couple of years ago over a date's shoulder and then screamed obscenities right into her face she was confused for about 4 seconds until everyone else caught up. There will no doubt be some sort of crazy bar fight or riot depending how crazy the refs decide to be. Random facebook friends will post that insufferable heart and then the LA symbol which I am not posting because you'll know it when you see it! Twitter will blow your phone away during the games. Every bar with a TV and a window will have people doing weird maneuvers in front of it trying to catch the score. I'd say The Greatest Bar is probably the the Place to watch these games.
